Altenar’s Sportsbook Product Manager Speaks On The Intelligence Platform | Maths, Software Development & Increased Levels Of Customisation

Speaking with Altenar’s Sportsbook Product Manager, Dinos Doxiadis, great insight was given into the provider’s intelligence platform and how this newly instituted and always-evolving infrastructure will change the face of Altenar’s sportsbook solutionand its capabilities moving forward.

Having a handful of useful developments and deployments already in the AIP (Altenar’s Intelligence Platform) legacy,  the below interview sheds incredible light into what’s to come and what operators can look forward to with the data-driven platform.

Let’s take a look at what Dinos had to say on this major project for Altenar…

How have your expertise helped to develop the AIP?

“So my expertise, I am in principle a mathematician, and a software developer in Altenar, I function like a product manager. So, I try to solve product problems through the AIP.  I do the product management for the Sportsbook, and as a part of this myself and the team are trying to create a product that is data driven;  the first thing that we need to solve through AIP are the day-to-day problems that we face in the sportsbook and it's related to many different aspects.

I help to mitigate and solve the problems that are trading related coming fr om our operators. We need to be able to quickly detect betting abnormalities and the traffic spikes for liability control. We also have tried to solve issues, um, like some real-time alerts that we need to inform clients or something is not going as expected.

We’re also increasing the efficiency of our  reporting process right now. Currently,  we can do it through the sportsbook but it's not efficient, it takes a lot of time and we cannot customise it as much as we want, this is further wh ere the AIP can be beneficial.”

What are your most recent highlights, deployments or builds of the AIP that most excite you?

“We were able to stabilise our liability report. For us, liability reports means that we now have a real-time, very in-depth understanding of what's happening across our sportsbook and its clients separately, and we're able to give visibility to our clients.

We are starting to create an advanced reporting factory on AIP, and we are now transitioning to a model that will be able to create and handle sportsbook products as we scale the business and our product in the future. With aims of further customisation for our clients, their players and even down to their geographical market needs.”

How will the AIP change Altenar’s current operations for the better?

“The AIP will help us in three different areas.

The first is risk management, with real time processes like our liability report, intelligent alerting system and with abnormality detection.

The second area concerns the performance of our sportsbook and of our clients using the settled bets history in a smart way. By pre-aggregating our settled bets at an event & market level we aim to provide efficient, very detailed insights to our clients about their traffic and performance. They will be able to understand betting trends and user behaviour in a way that will enable them to make educated business decisions. It is also going to be a powerful tool for our trading team.

The third area is user segmentation. Using machine learning, we can train user segmentation models,  by taking into consideration their betting history in conjunction with many other variables. Through this project, we will  provide better limits, adapt our bet delay customly, flag abnormal behaviours, and assign an expected monetary value for each user for a fixed time span (like two years). We should also be able to measure and predict how a business decision, like awarding a bonus to a particular user, might affect their monetary value and make intelligent suggestions to our operators."

What is even more interesting is that when we have this up and running, we can feed it as an input to our real time risk management system and start a new iteration of improvements for every area I described.

"The AIP has just started delivering major items and we are still finalising the infrastructure design to make all this happen. So, we need to be able to create an infrastructure to have different components that do separate jobs like that that will also scale with our business. Fortunately, we have a very good team that builds this infrastructure for us, and a great team of data scientists to do the rest. At this point, right  now, I think we'll have a great, great intelligence platform.”
