As more players choose to place bets on their phones, the mobile experience has become an increasingly important part of a modern sportsbook solution.
For operators, that means delivering an app that is not only intuitive and engaging, but also flexible enough to meet the expectations of different audiences and markets.
Isidoros Siderakis, Head of Special Projects, oversees the development of Altenar’s native mobile app and has provided an update on the latest developments and the benefits they can bring to operators and players.
What were the biggest priorities when designing the mobile betting experience, and how did they shape the product?
When it comes to the design, the user experience and preferences come first in priority. Our aim is to deliver an outstanding user experience, taking advantage of all the native mobile app capabilities and features.
How have you designed the app to help bettors find the sports, events and markets that are more relevant to them quickly?
First of all, we’ve focused on making the most relevant content immediately visible. Everything starts from the clear navigation but also features like the native search button, favourites, recent activity or the top bet recommendations. These all considerably reduce the time it takes for a bettor to find what they’re looking for.
Mobile betting is often about speed and simplicity. How have you approached the journey from discovering an event to placing a bet?
Our motto is to keep it simple and robust. When it comes to the user journey, the player can navigate considerably easier by using the native navigation bars or pick up bets and selections faster using the pre-built bet cards and Bet Mentor. Moreover, new introduced features like the swipe betting and in-app stories have been built to help players in this direction.
Looking ahead, what do you think will define the next generation of mobile sportsbook experiences, and how is the product being built to support that?
I strongly believe that the next generation of betting will be driven by the personalised user experience. It means that not only the promotions but also the content will be delivered to the right people.
Today, we already work with player tags, which allow us to tailor specific content to different groups of users, and potentially even to individual users. I think this is an important foundation for building a much more personalised sportsbook experience in the future.
With a diverse portfolio of current clients in Europe and Latin America, how do you balance their different operational and market requirements while maintaining a consistent product vision and scalable mobile experience?
I believe it starts with having the right product strategy, architecture, and processes in place to build a scalable mobile experience. In this way, we have developed a variety of features that can be used globally in all the applications and directly bring extra value to the product, such as the Altenar push notification system.
At the same time, we recognise that each market has its own special requirements. Where necessary, we support market-specific features and workflows, such as responsible gaming, without compromising the overall product experience.
In every case, Altenar’s mobile app team sticks to our aim in order to deliver an exceptional user experience and the best mobile app product.
