The Creation of A Data Heart | Insights Into Altenar’s Intelligence Platform

How have your expertise helped to develop the AIP?

As the old proverb says: one head is good but two - is better. Scientists and researchers always work in teams as collaborative work helps to achieve meaningful results, to have a clearer vision of a problem you work to resolve from different angles.

Since we're dealing with data science problems one might have a general picture in his mind on how to deal with a certain problem whilst other team members might help him to decompose the problem into smaller parts and deal with each part step by step. We also help each other when doing code review as it helps to optimise the code to run faster as we are dealing with Big Data as well as to find minor bugs that may affect the whole execution process.

What are your most recent highlights / deployments / builds of the AIP?

I have recently completed working on a few tickets for reporting needs. Basically, I had to create SQL queries to produce necessary data for those reports. Some of those were quite complex due to the non-trivial way the data gets presented and took me a while to get to it. But no mountain is too high. I am currently working on a Recommender Engine.

It is one of the most tricky machine learning problems you may ever meet as there's no right way for a certain methodology to be applied. It's all about the experiments and testing. This engine should help Altenar to achieve better business results, namely to increase profitability, to achieve higher customer retention values and to decrease customer churn rate.

Why do your current projects excite you from your professional point of view?

As I had to mostly deal with financial and sales analysis back in the day, working on data science projects makes me more excited and involved. I spent more than 2 years studying Data Science and was interested like no other to have an opportunity to apply my knowledge and I'm glad I finally have this chance with Altenar.

Machine Learning helps companies in various ways  (from cost cutting and increasing the margin to precise future predictions) and what is more important you can measure how well it affects business which you can't achieve working on retrospective analysis.


How will the AIP change Altenar’s current operations for the better?
 

We are currently working on building the heart of AIP, a Data Science ecosystem that will allow us to monitor and maintain our projects online and to timely react to business changes. The most  promising initiative I believe AIP should deliver is to create and successfully implement various meaningful ML algorithms to help businesses get benefits out of each and every activity we do in Altenar. These will form into a previously mentioned ecosystem. Besides, AIP helps Altenar to automate routine tasks which allows employees to be more focused on research projects.
