Reliability and scalability are musts in any business, and the iGaming industry is no different.
The key ingredient to ensure operators excel against their biggest metrics, in the modern digital age, is DevOps and that will be the focus for the eighth edition of Malta Tech Talks.
The event, hosted at the Altenar office, brings together members of the island’s IT community on a regular basis and a special edition focusing solely on DevOps is scheduled for October 9. Here’s the programme we have lined up:

As he prepares to kick off the latest installment of Malta Tech Talks, we caught up with Alex Movergen for a quick Q&A on the event.
Q. We're set to host our eighth Malta Tech Talks. How important is it to share information and expertise even with people outside of your business?
We use a lot of open-source tools and products at Altenar, and we also try to contribute actively to open-source projects and communities. We also attend conferences where we learn new things that help us stay at the cutting edge of the technology stack. That said, we believe it’s important to support and nurture the wider tech community.
Q. This edition of Malta Tech Talks is focused on DevOps. Why is DevOps so important to any industry?
DevOps was born to remove the wall between development and operations. But basic automation issues were settled many years ago — what a DevOps engineer needed to build five years ago now simply works. My team focuses on automation and on improving the user and developer experience.
When I joined Altenar we were 60 people; I was the second DevOps engineer on a two-person team. Now we are 700+ and my team alone includes 20 members from around the world. What I’m trying to say is that something that worked efficiently for a small company is not always applicable to a larger enterprise, so we continue to evolve our tools, approaches, and culture as we grow.
Q. What are you looking forward to most about the event?
Honestly, I hope this Tech Talk will be more than a typical conference experience. The most exciting part happens between presentations, when you talk to people and get their questions and feedback.
Malta is a small country and the IT community here is not very large. I hope we can enable people to continue discussions about the topics we raise at the conference, even after the event has finished.
We’d love for you to get involved and join the IT community at this event. Register to attend or view online here: maltatechtalks.com/
