Altenar’s ever-evolving range of products and solutions was recognized in Italy with the award for Best Innovative Product at Enada Primavera 2024.
The exhibition in Rimini is the highlight of the year for the Italian betting industry, and Altenar’s team—Francesco Papallo, Martin Baldacchino, and Andrea Lo Votrico—was in attendance.
The standout moment of the week was Altenar winning the innovation prize, thanks to a series of new features that impressed the judges, including the Bet Mentor widget, the Insights feature, and the mobile app.
A key few days of networking also included Altenar hosting a client event at a Michelin-guide restaurant with partners, where guests included well-known Italian football tipster Mirko Cisco.
Altenar has been operating as a sports betting provider in Italy for five years, and Enada Primavera 2024 was an excellent opportunity to showcase its full range of products and solutions.
Participating in events like these allows Altenar to sustain the strong market appeal it has built over the past five years. Moreover, attending Enada during this period of regulatory uncertainty presented a valuable opportunity.
Overall, it wasn’t any single sportsbook feature that stood out, but rather the entire Altenar offering—featuring a complete Risk Management solution and 24/7 support. The customizable front end received positive feedback, as did the competitiveness of the markets available.
Francesco Papallo, Sales Manager at Altenar
Major changes are on the horizon for Italy’s iGaming industry, as the regulator prepares to release new licenses priced at €7 million, each with a nine-year term. The €7 million must be paid as a one-time fee, with an additional annual concession fee set at 3% of the operator’s net margin.
The decree must go through the parliamentary process before taking effect, and new applications for online gambling licenses are currently not being accepted. New online licenses will only become available when a new tender is announced. It is also expected that the regulator will reorganize retail licenses (for shops) in a way that aligns them with online licensing.
It remains to be seen exactly how this will impact operators, with Francesco adding:
The new tender for license issuance is almost ready, but due to technical reasons, it won’t be released in 2024. As a result, we’ll have to wait until early 2025 to understand how the Italian betting market will evolve.
Without a doubt, the industry giants will benefit, but many smaller operators have already committed to paying the €7 million for the new license. They’re gearing up to attract more players and potentially acquire smaller operators who, for various reasons, may be unable to afford the license.
Altenar is ready to support operators of all sizes in growing their betting brands in Italy, and the Enada innovation award highlights the strength and ongoing improvements of its offering.
We understand that operating in the Italian betting market is challenging due to its technical procedures. As a company headquartered outside of Italy, Altenar offers itself as a flexible and reliable alternative—with a customizable product tailored to the unique needs of each operator.
