Sportsbook platform provider Altenar this month powered the launch of Red Sevens, its first client in the regulated Romanian market.
Red Sevens (www.redsevens.ro) has become one of the first operators to launch with Altenar’s new responsive front-end sports betting client.
Domenico Mazzola, Commercial Director at Altenar, said: “I’m thrilled to announce that we’re expanding our portfolio of regulated market customers. Having Red Sevens as our first Romanian operator makes this partnership even more meaningful.”
This news marks the beginning of an exciting 2019 for Altenar, whose sportsbook platform helped Wplay.co—the first approved licensee in the regulated South American market—grow to become one of the region’s early leaders throughout 2018.
However, this comes after a challenging start to the year for Romania’s 20+ licensed operators, who have been impacted by a 2% gambling turnover tax—originally proposed at 5% before the government revised its approach—in addition to the existing 16% tax on gross gaming revenue (GGR).
Mazzola also told SBC News that Red Sevens, which opened its platform to new online customers on January 1, is expected to be “the first of a few” Romanian operators to launch on the Altenar platform between now and year’s end.
