John Quaye, Altenar’s CFO, shared insights into what becoming an ICAEW-certified training employer means for Altenar and future trainees who will participate in the company’s in-house training program under his guidance.
As a company with expertise spanning sales, marketing, engineering, software development, and accounting, Altenar provides trainees with exposure to a wide range of business functions they’ll likely encounter throughout their careers.
By mentoring well-rounded, dedicated, and passionate individuals, John and Altenar are reinforcing the company’s core values—nurturing employee growth and providing opportunities that help team members realize their full potential.
Here’s what John had to say when interviewed about achieving ICAEW accreditation.
What motivated you—and by extension Altenar—to become a certified ICAEW training employer?
As a Chartered Accountant and member of the ICAEW, I’ve always appreciated the value of the training I received. Being able to offer that same opportunity at Altenar—especially as this type of training has traditionally been available only through public accounting firms—is a great step forward for our incoming employees.
What was involved in the approval process for certification?
Becoming a certified training employer means committing to uphold the ethical and professional standards of the ICAEW. We had to demonstrate that we take this responsibility seriously and that we can provide a supportive environment in which trainees can gain the skills and experience required.
How will future trainee accountants benefit from Altenar's training program?
The Chartered Accountancy qualification is recognized globally and offers students the chance to build professional skills that will serve them for a lifetime.
Given Altenar’s innovative and professional culture, how do you see your first candidate aligning with global ICAEW standards?
We’re looking for someone with a strong academic foundation and the potential to be an outstanding ICAEW student. We’re excited to support this individual—and others who follow—as they develop professionally and become key members of our finance team.
What’s the advantage of offering high-quality in-house training?
People are Altenar’s greatest asset. Investing in employee development is critical to our continued growth and success.
What can future trainees expect when they train at Altenar and work with you?
Trainees will thrive in a professional, supportive, and fast-paced environment—and gain experience across many areas of the iGaming industry. Altenar is an ideal place for aspiring Chartered Accountants to grow and succeed.
