Altenar now employs more than 500 staff members after years of sustained growth, but some have been here since the very beginning.
As a global sportsbook provider, the team is made up of many different nationalities, backgrounds, and languages, with various departments contributing to the overall success of the company.
In the latest in a series of interviews with our workforce, we find out more about Marketing Director Angelina Silina.
How long have you been a member of the Altenar team and what made you want to join the company?
I have been working for Altenar since its founding. I’m very proud that I was the person who came up with the name of the company.
What are your main roles and responsibilities here at Altenar?
My main role is to run and oversee the various departments that promote the Altenar brand through multiple channels both online and offline. Each of these departments has a wide range of specialists in their field, which makes it a great position for me to be in.
What do you think makes you good at your job/what you do?
I don’t compete with my team members—I’m always happy when someone can complete a task better than me. I haven’t been a specialist in many specific areas of marketing, so I must trust the expertise of my team. I know how to create an atmosphere of freedom in my department that helps work flow without having to ‘babysit’ my team.
This approach allows me to look at things more objectively and have time to ensure I stay ahead of the latest trends and advancements in this field.
How does your department help the company reach its overall targets and goals?
Thanks to my department, we managed to build Altenar’s image as a serious company and, in turn, a name that is respected in the gaming industry among sportsbook providers.
What are the key skills you need to be a success in your team/department?
To work in my team, you must be a strong specialist who can take responsibility for your decisions, be brave for the sake of results, and also offer creative, non-standard solutions.
How do you expect your role in this industry to change and develop in the future?
Communication channels will evolve in the future, but my role won’t change significantly. People like me will manage people who, in turn, oversee robots, assign them tasks, and choose the strategy themselves.
Tell us about your career prior to joining Altenar?
I’ve always worked in advertising—first on the client side, then in advertising agencies.
My role changed depending on the needs of the companies, but above all, I enjoyed working as a Senior Copywriter, creating initial concepts for promoting different products (ATL/BTL).
What’s the one thing you’d love to change about your role/industry?
Ideally, I’d like to do more creative work and fewer processes.
What did you want to do as a job/career when you were a child?
When I was a kid, I didn’t know what I wanted to do.
Away from work do you have any hidden talents?
I have a huge passion for painting and decorating. I graduated from art school and have always been interested in art. I’d like to think I could identify professionals in this field right away.
What's your biggest achievement away from your work career?
I hope my biggest achievement is yet to come. I hope I can look back on my life in years to come and, when I evaluate my success, be proud of the various things I have accomplished—and will accomplish.
