Altenar’s CEO Stanislav Silin spoke to SBC ahead of next week’s Digital Summit to discuss his plans for the event and which parts of the conference agenda have caught his eye.

In his interview, he explained that during the global lockdown, Altenar placed greater focus on esports and virtual sports while continuing its efforts to pursue further regulatory recognition for when betting volumes return.

What are you looking forward to at the SBC Digital Summit?

It’s a rather novel conference format—one that may have existed before, but never with the kind of speakers or attention this particular summit could attract. We’re curious to try it out, and we’ve noticed that other companies in the industry believe in this format as well.

What would be your biggest piece of advice for betting and gaming businesses trying to mitigate the impact of COVID-19?

During times of slowdown, it’s possible to address matters that previously may not have seemed as important or urgent. This renewed attention to detail could help operators soften the traffic drop or speed up recovery. So, stay strong and focused.

What are you promoting at the SBC Digital Summit?

We’re aiming to reassure our current and future customers of our commitment to the stability and flexibility we stand for. In this period of unexpected, major slowdown, we’ve adapted and focused on esports and virtuals. I believe we’ve done a strong job on both fronts while continuing to pursue additional regulatory recognition for when betting volumes return.

What industry innovation will capture the most attention in 2020?

While not exactly a new innovation, gaming continues to follow the tech advancements seen in larger industries. The focus on data—and what can ultimately be done with it, including machine learning and AI—is something we’ll keep hearing more and more about.

Which operator has impressed you the most in 2020?

It’s still early in 2020, though the pandemic has significantly impacted the sports betting industry. That said, bet365 has consistently served as a solid benchmark for many companies, including us, both in terms of feature innovation and user experience.

What sports betting partnership has stood out in the past 12 months?

We’re interested in how the legal battle over official data rights in the UK will unfold and whether the current situation will influence it. Now is a good time to reflect on which business practices are likely to endure—and whether they truly benefit the consumer.

Which parts of the conference agenda have caught your eye?

We’re particularly interested in the LATAM Market Day section, as well as the opening keynote.
