Altenar COO Dinos Stranomitis has applauded the niche that SiGMA has carved out in Malta.
The gaming trade show—already considered iconic despite its relatively recent launch—will take place from November 27–29 and is seen by Altenar as a "great opportunity."
Commending the organization of the event, the COO believes SiGMA is just as significant as ICE London when it comes to the online gaming sector. While ICE is widely regarded as the "best event of the year" in gaming, Stranomitis feels that if you removed its land-based component, ICE would be more directly comparable to its Maltese counterpart. He told Gambling Insider: “SiGMA is an interesting concept—I call it a ‘thing’ because I’m not sure whether to categorize it as an affiliate conference, exhibition, or general industry event. It’s unusual—but I mean that in a good way. It began as a small meetup in a hotel room. But now, in terms of online business, it’s becoming a real competitor to ICE London."
“We all know ICE: it’s the premier event of the year in gaming. But a large portion of ICE is focused on the land-based industry. If you remove companies like Novomatic, Merkur Gaming, and other land-based giants, what’s left is essentially SiGMA. That’s how I view it.” Stranomitis shared his thoughts with Gambling Insider for the upcoming SiGMA preview edition of GI Friday, set to release next week.
